Fencing is a sport that combines the need for quick reactions, concentration, tactics and condition! Many of us are absolute beginners and started fencing only last year. There is also a good group of advanced fencers, who are fun to train with and are always happy to provide some instructions.

At MAS Incontro we train all three weapons – foil, epée and sabre. They all have different characteristics, such as fighting style or target areas. In the beginners course you will start to train foil in order to learn the basics, but afterwards you are free to try all weapons to find the one that suits you best!

As a new fencer you can join our beginner’s course to learn the basics of fencing and afterwards join the advanced course. If you are an experienced fencer, you can join our advanced course. The trainings are usually done in English, but of course you can speak Dutch with everybody who understands it.

Information about which UM Sports and MAS Incontro Club memberships you need for each course is provided on our website (link provided below).

Training is once a week on Thursday evening, from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm for both the Advanced and Beginner Courses. There is an additional hour of free sparring afterwards from 9:00 pm to 10:00pm. We offer a free training on Monday evenings from 8:30 pm to 10:00 pm to all MAS Incontro Club Members. This is done in cooperation with the civilian La Rapière Fencing Club.

We also have a few regular social activities. We usually hang at the Time Out Cafe for a round of beer after trainings. There is also the Christmas Dinner, and the Summer BBQ we invite you to. There are also competitions year round we go to. These are usually in the Netherlands but there is the possibility to go abroad. This is the best way to gain experience and learn so both beginner and advanced fencers are encouraged to attend. For more information please contact us and check out the Tournament Calendar on our Facebook page.
