The Batavierenrace is back! On May 8 and 9, 2026, the 54th edition of the world's largest relay race will take place. The starting gun sounds in Nijmegen, after which hundreds of teams run towards Enschede in a relay format. On Saturday, we reach the finish line and conclude with a huge party you won't want to miss!
The Batavierenrace is the largest relay in the world! A relay race from Nijmegen to Enschede, followed up with the biggest student festival. The race is divided into 25 stages, varying in length from 4 km up to 10 km.
For joining you don't need to be a supersonic fast runner, everyone can join and a lot of the Student Sport Associations have a team running for the Batavierenrace.
However, in case you are faster than light: join the Maastricht University Team. This team competes with other universities in the Netherlands, to become the quickest. A very serious challenge for which we need the best runners at Maastricht University, including those not up for a party.
